Everyone’s story is different — but many clients come here because something feels heavy, stuck, or confusing. We specialize in the overlap between complex trauma, autism, and ADHD, and the patterns that naturally emerge when these experiences meet.
Common reasons people reach out:
Trauma responses (fight, flight, freeze, fawn, shutdown, dissociation)
Autistic burnout or ADHD overwhelm
Emotional dysregulation
Masking and identity confusion
Chronic stress and sensory overload
C-PTSD and childhood trauma
Relationship or attachment struggles
Feeling misunderstood, “too much,” or “not enough”
Parenting stress
Late-in-life autism or ADHD exploration
-
We work with:
Autistic people (diagnosed or self-identified)
ADHDers
People with AuDHD
People who have experienced complex trauma & CPTSD
Parents & caregivers
Helping professionals (therapists, educators, healthcare workers)
Teens & young adults

Our team has extensive training and experience in a variety of therapy modalities, including Brainspotting, Trauma-Focused CBT, Attachment Regulation and Competency, Family Systems, Internal Family Systems, sensory integration, neurodiversity-affirming therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. We do not use a one-size-fits-all approach – the work we will do with you will be customized based on your unique experiences, goals, preferences, and needs. We can also consult with or include, with your permission, anyone you consider part of your tribe or team, whether that might be family members, partners, medical professionals, other therapists (including OTs), coaches… or just you. It’s your process and your life. You are in charge, and we’re on your team.

Good question! Ethically, any therapist is required to remain within their scope of practice and expertise, and refer out clients whose needs they cannot meet.
There are certain issues or situations that would require a referral elsewhere, including:
Active addiction
Serious safety risks (active suicidality or self-harm, threats to others, etc.)
Psychosis or mania
Some personality disorders (NPD, ASPD)
DID
Treatment of persons with a history of sexually or physically abusing others
Because we are individual providers in private practice, our ability to take on cases requiring a level of care beyond regular outpatient treatment is very limited. Note also that we do not and cannot provide 24-hour crisis coverage.
We do not provide medication management or psychiatric services.
-
No.
Although we are happy to support exploration of possible neurodivergence, we cannot diagnose autism or ADHD in ways that would be recognized medically or for occupational or educational needs. These require specialized training and licensure.
Family Therapy
-
Family therapy and parenting support is a good fit if you’re navigating:
Conflict, shutdown, or emotional disconnection
Sensory overwhelm within the family
Parenting autistic or ADHD children
Co-regulation and emotional safety
Burnout for parents or caregivers
Communication challenges
Behavior that feels confusing or overwhelming
Trauma patterns affecting family dynamics
Transitions, school stress, or identity exploration
Misunderstandings between ND and non-ND family members
Most families coming here are doing their best — they just need support that matches how their family works.
-
- Parents of autistic or ADHD children
-Families where one or more members are ND
-Families healing from trauma or chronic stress
-Parents seeking clearer guidance and support
-ND parents navigating parenting overload
-Teens & young adults wanting safer communication with parents
-Families feeling disconnected or “stuck”
No formal ND diagnosis is required. It is perfectly acceptable if you or a family member is self-identified or still exploring.

Family therapy focuses on improving understanding, communication, and emotional safety — not assigning blame. We work with families to identify patterns shaped by stress, trauma, neurodivergence, and developmental differences, and help everyone build skills that support connection and regulation.
Sessions are structured but flexible, and we adapt our approach based on the needs of each family member. The goal is to create practical, compassionate shifts that make daily life feel more manageable and supportive for everyone involved.
Family therapy often includes not just sessions with two or more family members together, but individual sessions (“family therapy without client” in billing terms) where appropriate. This allows each person to have their individual views and experiences fully heard in confidence, in ways they might not be able to express safely or comfortably in front of others. The therapeutic approach will be customized to meet the needs of your unique family situation.

David’s standard rates for family therapy (including couples):
Rate : $255 (couple/family)
Session Length: 55 Minutes
Longer sessions are possible, although duration beyond 60 minutes will be self-pay at a rate of $125 per additional 30 minutes.
Sessions might be covered by insurance in some cases, depending on your location, insurance company, and type of service. We are happy to provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement.

In general, we do not work directly with children under the age of about 11 or 12 years old (depending on maturity level and specific situation). This is primarily because telehealth is not ideal for managing family or child sessions with younger children – in our experience, in-person therapy is more appropriate in these cases.
We do, however, frequently work with parents and other caregivers of younger children to help them learn parenting strategies and improve family functioning. We have extensive experience in parent education and family systems work, including in cases of complex childhood trauma and/or neurodivergence.
We have at times worked with parents in collaboration with other therapists and/or school personnel to support younger children in a team-based environment, including participating in IEP/504 meetings, wraparound/ICTS teams, and other settings. Note, however, that we do not provide diagnosis or support in applying for Special Education accommodations or disability services; this is beyond our scope of practice. Nor do we perform custody evaluations, which is also a specialized field.

David generally does not do true couple’s counseling (in cases of marital distress or high conflict, for example) except in specific situations. Nani does sometimes provide couple’s or marital therapy, although please note that this is self-pay only.
David will undertake couple’s counseling in situations where learning to accommodate the neurodivergent needs of one or both partners, or understand and support the complex trauma of a member of a couple, is the primary focus. David will also work with couples who are working on parenting skills in the context of family therapy, with or without children involved.
You are welcome to reach out to see if your specific situation would be a good fit for our work. If not, we will be happy to refer you to other therapists within our refegral network who would be able to provide appropriate support.
